Suddenly I'm bright and breezy... ๐
This week, things were a little different at Birch & Stone. Rather than focus on a theme or technique, all of our workshops centered on the idea of "getting to know you." As a community, we have learned to become vulnerable with our shares, and often things are said in B&S workshops that have never been said aloud before... and yet we might not know the basics of one another's lives, like our ages, states of residence, or favorite ice cream topping! This week, we bridged that gap with chat sessions that felt like middle school sleepovers (but with less hair-braiding).
I also got some great responses to last week's Bloomscrolling Mingle Question, and they also fit into that slumber party feeling of togetherness. Without further adieu:
If you were turning 250 years old, what would you want your party to look like?
๐ "My birthday party for 250 years? It depends how good I still looked ha ha perhaps I would get some much welcomed cosmetic surgery for my birthday celebration!" โ Alisa C.
๐ "I would love to see all the smiling faces of those who love and respect me. The conversation would be amazing because the room would be filled with kind, thoughtful souls who want to make the world a better place." โ Deb H.
๐"If I were celebrating my 250th birthday, my greatest wish would be for my party to be filled with the people I loveโboth those who have gone before me and those who are still with me. It would give me a chance to embrace them, celebrate the memories we shared, and express my deepest gratitude for the impact they had on my life.
The party would be about family and friends, gathered together in love and laughter. It wouldnโt be about gifts, food or decorationsโit would simply be a beautiful celebration of the relationships that have made my life rich and meaningful....a celebration of love." โ Susan D.
๐"I would want the biggest party with my closest friends and of course CAKE! Not just any cake but my favorite White cake with white frosting, and cupcakes lemon and raspberry white chocolate. Music to celebrate who I am and what the song means to me. I would want it outside in nature and I would want the weather to be calm and breezy. And just maybe some swings to sit in. Somebody else to plan this. It sounds like too much for me and I am 250 years old, so I might just take it easy. It makes me think we should celebrate like this for some of our own accomplishments. 250 is big but so is 15 or 30. Thank you for allowing me to ponder what I would want." โ Jess B.

๐ One of the classes you're teaching is Power Walking. What do you think is the power of walking? What makes it special as a form of activity?
The power of walking is simple, accessible, and something almost everyone can do. You can walk alone or with others, inside or outside, while improving your heart health, strength, mood, energy, and overall wellbeing. Walking reminds us small steps can create big changes.
๐ What's one rule you've abandoned when it comes to nourishing yourself, whether it's your body or your soul? What do you do instead that serves you better?
I used to be a very all-or-nothing person, in how I ate, in how I chose exercise, and pretty much a perfectionist to a fault. I no longer live in the black-and-white and have settled into the gray zone, middle of the road. I believe in being accountable, consistent but remembering flexibility. Every day can look different and that is OK. I used to diet, and now I live a lifestyle that honors me best and that I can sustain longterm.
๐ผ I'm really looking forward to Rewind the Tape! Just to be a little silly โ what was your favorite VHS tape to rent at Blockbuster back in the โ90s?
Oh wow fun question!! Most likely my young kids at the time picked out their favorites. I was never a big TV watcher so I also went with the flow and whatever my hubby chose. If I can recall early 90โs, I would say Pretty Woman was a favorite.
